"NGANJUK, EAST JAVA"

Picture 1 : Alun-Alun Nganjuk
Nganjuk is one of the regions in East Java which is directly bordered by Bojonegoro Regency in the north, Madiun Regency in the west, Kediri and Ponorogo in the south, and Jombang Regency in the east. Nganjuk Regency is located between 111o5 'to 112o13' East and 7o20 'to 7o59' South Latitude. The area of Nganjuk Regency is around 122,433 km2 or equivalent to 122,433 Ha consisting of:
• Paddy land 43,052 Ha
• Dry land 32,373 Ha
• Forest land 47,007 Ha

Picture 2 : my father's rice field & shallots

With an area located in the lowlands and mountains, Nganjuk Regency has a fairly productive soil structure and condition for various types of plants, both food crops and estate crops so that it is very supportive of economic growth in agriculture. The condition and structure of this productive land is at the same time supported by the Widas river which flows 69.332 km and irrigates an area of 3,236 hectares, and the Brantas river which is able to irrigate 12,705 hectares of rice fields.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan), Nganjuk Regency is one of the focus areas of the government to absorb shallots and become government stock each year. The regions in Indonesia that are the focus of absorption of shallots are Nganjuk, Brebes, Bima and Solok. As an onion producer center in East Java and one of the focuses of the absorption of shallots by the government, it is not surprising for residents of Nganjuk Regency if everywhere there are seen many people planting, harvesting, drying, or trading onions. However, for migrants or those who are new to this fact, consider Nganjuk like a collection of onion heaven, is not wrong.
If you visit Nganjuk or intend to buy shallots directly to its center, the Sukomoro market can be chosen as a paradise of red onions. The market, which is located on Jalan Surabaya-Madiun, Sukomoro District, is known as a market specializing in onion sale and purchase transactions. In every corner of this market you will only find shallots and buyers. Some sub-districts which supply the shallots stock in the Sukomoro shallots are Rejoso District and Bagor District.
Nganjuk is also known as the City of the Wind, because this area is sandwiched between two mountains, namely Mount Wilis and the Kendeng mountains, which makes this city have strong gusts of wind. Nganjuk also saves a million tourist attractions that will surely be your choice of vacation destination next time. In addition to nature tourism, this region also has historical and culinary tourism, of course.
1.      ALUN - ALUN NGANJUK

Picture 3 : Me in Alun-Alun Nganjuk

Alun-Alun Nganjuk is familiar to Nganjuk residents. This tour is always visited by many Nganjuk and surrounding communities. Interesting for anyone, both local residents and other city residents. This place is also one of the tourist options in addition to nature tourism.
No wonder Alun-Alun Nganjuk is always the center of attention on weekends because here it presents a lot of entertainment for families. Starting from Car Free Day (CFD), on Sundays. This makes Alun-Alun Nganjuk also a place for street vendors to compete in selling their wares. Besides that the place is spacious, and feels cool because there are lots of trees and also lots of playgrounds
often visit this place, because it is quite close to my house, the photo was taken when I was meeting with my close class sister in 2015, sevina puspitawati nur azizah her name. and when it was our goodbye, I migrated to Surabaya and he was still nodded.

2.      SEDUDO WATERFALL

Picture 3 : Me in Sedudo Waterfall
Sedudo waterfall area is located at an altitude of 1,438 meters above sea level. Do not be surprised if when you bathe there, then you will feel fresh water that is very, very cold as if seeping into your bones. Moreover, this waterfall has a height of 105 meters, which seemed to plunge downward, flowing in the crevices of steep rock cliffs.
Located in Ngliman Village, Sawahan District, Nganjuk Regency, this waterfall can be reached with a distance of about 30km from the center of Nganjuk city. It is said that according to the story, if you visit and bathe in this waterfall in the month of Sura, then your face will be ageless. This story is passed down from the Majapahit era. The Nganjuk government seems to want to take advantage of this moment by routinely holding the Mandi Sedudo ritual every 1 Suro. If it's really like that it will definitely save money because we don't need to use this treatment product to make your face stay young. Hehe

3.      WATULAWANG
Picture 4 : Me in Watulawang
have not found a credible source to reveal the origin of the name watu lawang, but from several sources the name watu lawang taken from its own location is a plateau and many large stones there (watu = stone in Indonesian) and maybe the word lawang means door. Formerly this location was one of the entrances or paths to Mount Wilis. And also maybe some large flat stones are in this location that is similar to a door.

Watu Lawang is arguably the same neighbor as Sedudo, because if we want to visit this Watu Lawang tour we will pass the path used to get to Sedudo. It's just after parking in the sedudo parking lot, we have to turn left to get to Watu Lawang. After entering the Watu Lawang Counter, we have to pass through the streets around 50-100 which is quite uphill and turn to be able to visit Watu Lawang.

In addition to the beautiful and natural scenery in this tourist location, you will find photo spots that are very neat, even arguably special. Natural pool, unique spots, locations that are made in such a way as to attract the interest of visitors. And one of the famous spots in Watu Lawang is the background of the waterfall which is arranged in a clearly visible Mount Wilis landscape.

4.      NYADRANAN OR CLEANING VILLAGE
Picture 5: Nyadranan or Cleaning Village

Cleaning Villange or commonly called nyadran, is the culture of the residents of the Nganjuk area as a form of gratitude from the produce of the earth, rich kings (livestock), and successful trading. Aside from being a form of gratitude, this event is also a form of hope that the next harvest can be more successful.

The unique thing about the cleanliness of the village is that after the grave pilgrimage, residents who have come and gathered at the village grave do a meal together with food that each family has brought. Quite often these foods are exchanged and shared with all other residents and eaten together. It also aims to improve the relationship between villagers.

This activity is not only done in one place. There were two village tombs visited and finally the residents gathered at the hamlet head's house to hold a tayuban event. Tayuban is a Javanese dance performance that contains beauty and harmony in which all dancers aldalah women and gamelan music accompaniment. In addition to watching Tayub dance performances there is also a treat and meal for every citizen who comes. This activity is a hereditary tradition that has been carried out since decades ago and will continue to be harvested next harvest.

5.      TASTE THE TYPICAL NGANJUK DODOL NAMED DUMBLEG

Picture 6 : Dumbleg

Dumbleg is a dodol-like food, which has a sweet and legit taste made from rice flour dough, brown sugar and coconut milk, and is wrapped using betel nut wrapping. Even though you rarely sell it, you can still taste this one in traditional markets such as Gondang Market and Rejoso Market.

6.      ONDE ONDE NJEBLOS
Picture 7 : Onde-Onde Njeblos

If we know of mung bean dumplings, Nganjuk has its own dumplings namely Njeblos dumplings. If we recognize dumplings as round food containing collapsed green beans that are lined with sesame, dumplings in dumplings actually have no filling, so they are called Njeblos dumplings or laughing dumplings, because they are broken like steamed sponge cakes, so they are similar in shape, so that they are called laughing dumplings or laughing dumplings, because they are broken like steamed sponge cakes. people laugh.

6.      SARI MAWAR

Picture 8 : Sari Mawar
Rose juice? many people immediately wonder what it feels like. This is not a perfume or air freshener, but a typical Nganjuk drink. Usually this drink is sold in the tourist area of Sedudo waterfall. A number of stalls and shops there sell these drinks.

But don't imagine, this red drink is steeping drink. Sari rose original slopes of Mount Wilis, precisely in the village of Ngliman, Sawahan District has been interestingly packed with 180 ml of plastic bag. Similar fruit juice drinks from the city of Malang.

Taste? Yes, indeed a little unusual. The smell of roses is indeed smelled. But not so sharp. The taste is actually fresh, asem-tamarind sepet. "First it was even bitter, the fragrance is still sharp. So many say it tastes weird," Sri Karlinawati said.

Sri Karlinawati or commonly called Lina was not the first to initiate this drink. It is the local mothers who have the idea of making rose juice. But in his hands, this drink can finally be known everywhere. This 28-year-old woman from the original Bruno Hamlet, Ngliman Village is keen to produce and promote this drink with her brother, Dwi Indarti.

Come visit the city of Nganjuk. And find many other more interesting tours. Don't forget to stop by my house, friends. Thank you so much :)
